Once you have started business, you realize there is always road bumps. This could come from many variables but most of the time it comes from your own mistakes.

Usually the reason for these mistakes is because most business owners are new to the business world.

Most of the time they don’t know where to start or maybe don’t have the right foundation.

Alyssa said it great in the fact that there isn’t a specific plan. Each business is different and requires different techniques to fix these problems.

1. Not Watching Funds

The biggest mistake business owners do is not watching how much money they spend. Things can get very expensive when you are starting your business and as a new business owners you have to realize this. The most important thing is to spend your money in the right areas and at the right time. Most business go bankrupt before they even start. Most business owners think they need to overspend and put every single dollar into their company. There are many different ways on how you can start a business while on a budget. Though, under-spending can be possible too. You have to remember that you have to spend money to make money. Most important is finding that right balance.

2. Not Having a Plan

Not having a plan is usually the first reason most business’ fail. Having a plan allows you as a small business owner to get a good foundation. If you don’t have a strong foundation you will crumble. For example, a coach or teacher needs a plan before they start their job, or they will be lost and have no direction with their content. This goes for the same as business owners. You won’t know where to start and you won’t know when to end in certain situations. Having a plan is super important to becoming a successful business. The best way to fix this problem is setting up SMART goals.

3. Poor Hiring

Having a bad team/employee should be your least worry when starting a business. Though, usually this isn’t the case and is one of the biggest mistakes most business owners deal with. Most of the time owners hire just to hire to have a big enough team to run their company. You want to find the most qualified and most trustworthy employees/team. Even if it takes months or even years to find the right people. As an owner, if you don’t hire new employees and keep the bad, you find yourself in a position where you are stuck with the same problems. You should share a strong relationship with your employees/team where you guys are on the same page and share the same passion to advance the company. Good hiring can help you have a very successful company in the long term.
